This is a step-by-step of how we set up Channel Sync Watchdog for SiteMinder on a real Sydney property last week. Total elapsed time from checkout to first alert: 13 minutes.
Minute 0 — Checkout
Add Channel Sync Watchdog for SiteMinder to cart. Check out. Receive confirmation email with the activation link within about 40 seconds.
Minute 2 — SiteMinder login
Click the activation link. Land on the SiteMinder login page. Sign in with the property’s normal SiteMinder credentials. Complete two-factor authentication. Consent screen asks for Rates (read) and Availability (read) scopes only.
Minute 5 — Discovery
Back on rmsclaud.org. The activation page shows: 4 rate plans discovered, 2 room types, 5 connected OTAs (Booking.com, Expedia, Agoda, Trip.com, plus the property’s direct engine). Choose Slack as the alert channel; enter the channel webhook URL.
Minute 9 — First sync
Watchdog begins its first poll cycle. The status changes to “Watching”. First sync-status snapshot appears in the log within 90 seconds — everything green.
Minute 12 — Sanity check
Deliberately introduce a small rate discrepancy inside the Expedia extranet as a smoke test. Wait.
Minute 13 — First alert
Slack pings. Full alert with rate plan name, before/after values, and a deep link back to SiteMinder for one-click resolution. Undo the smoke-test discrepancy, alert clears within the next poll cycle.
